My name is Jimmy Ausbrooks and I earned my Masters of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College with honors. I work with clients in the areas of anxiety, depression, complex diagnosis, and dual diagnosis (mental health and substance abuse), stress management, conflict resolution, self-image, spirituality, sexual identity, and grief. I am truly an affirming counselor, patient and caring to the individual needs of my clients. I meet my clients where they are, I am not judgmental, and I recognize individuals as individuals.
I have vital experience in navigating issues related to mental health, substance abuse, gender identity, career, and life transitions. I am passionate about helping others in all stages of their life as they face conflict within themselves and with others. I am a proud native of Kentucky and reside in Louisville, KY and was born and raised in South-Central Kentucky. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Western Kentucky University.
I enjoy many hobbies, self-care, and interests, i.e., any adventurous activities, like travel, politics, and cooking. I am a foodie and avid Food Network watcher. I have traveled both domestically and internationally to destinations like: Italy, England, Germany, France, Netherlands, Mexico, and Canada internationally, and have travels to all but six of the continental United States. I am a former candidate for the United States Congress (US Senate and US House of Representatives). I make a mean chicken alfredo, beans and cornbread, and all time southern staple banana pudding, and all from scratch.
I currently serve on the board of the Kentucky Counseling Association and have done so since 2017 and I am an active member of the American Counseling Association.
I volunteer with various at-risk organizations for youth and young adults. Have worked with organizations addressing HIV prevention, domestic violence, and crisis stabilization, as well as educational engagements and clinical care.
